Single light source

An experiment on a bird in the air pump: This painting had the light coming from the centre of the table, I feel this was a great place to place it as it is a very strange place to place a light and shows the shadows of the subjects in a very different light.

The supper of emmaus : The light in this image was coming from above and to the left, this created rather harsh shadows but still easily shows the details in the faces of the subjects in the painting.

Belshazzer’s Feast: The light in this image was extremely different to the others as the light is either coming from behind the people or equal to them, it keeps their faces in the light but yet it becomes very dark under any bit of clothing.

The Concert : The light in this painting appears to be coming from just below the views perspective. its not typically shown like this, it does show the strangle look and can even confuse people and make them question why it is this way.
Colour

A lady with a squirrel and a starling : I just love the amount of colour on this painting, starting at the background, it has a bright blue sea like background which is simply eye catching on its own, then it has hints of green on the trees which just act like a nice little sweetener on top. Then to her clothing, to start she has a bright white over coat and hat which really stand out against her dark black clothing underneath.
Pose

Doge leonardo loredan :the positioning of the subjects has always been a massively important aspect, for this portrait the subject is sitting up right and look proud, this gives the impression of a very strong and empowering person.

Saint Catherine of Alexandria : For Saint Catherine the position she is in makes her look extremely elegant for the way she looks so light and she makes it look so effortless.

Portrait of susanna lunden: The same goes for this painting, the lady of the painting is posing in a way that makes her look like she has a level of prestige and that she is effortless in making her self look good.
